17 people die in Delhi’s Karol Bagh hotel fire

New Delhi:

At least seventeen people died and five are injured in a fire which broke out early morning in a hotel in Delhi’s Karol Bagh.

Over 20 fire tenders rushed to the spot after the fire was reported at Hotel Arpit Palace at 4:35 in the morning. The fire fighters rescued around 50 people from the fire out of which some are critically injured.

Seventeen victims include a woman and a child who tried to escape fire by jumping out of the window of the three-story hotel. The hotel was booked by a family for a function.

The final figures on dead and injured are yet to be released. The police have registered a FIR and are conducting probe if there was any negligence in the hotel’s part.
