Prime Minister Narendra Modi wasted no time in getting back to his duties after taking oath. He met President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sooronbay Sharipovich Jeenbekov, immediately after the swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.
Both the leaders discussed the bilateral ties ways to deepen economic and social cooperation in the times to come.
“Held extensive deliberations with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Sooronbay Jeenbekov. Our talks covered the full spectrum of bilateral ties between our nations and ways to deepen economic and social cooperation in the times to come,” PM Modi tweeted after the meeting.
Kyrgyzstan is the current Chair of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and is an important partner of India in Central Asia. President Jeenbekov warmly congratulated the Prime Minister and reiterated the invitation for him to visit Kyrgyzstan for the SCO Summit and a bilateral visit during 13-15 June, 2019.
