BJP on Monday dismissed claims of a cyber expert who claimed in an event in London that EVMs were hacked in 2014 elections. BJP said that presence of Kapil Sibal at the press conference was not a coincidence and the “hacking horror show” was organised by the Congress Party.
Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi alleged that Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi sent Sibal as their “postman.”
Naqvi said that the opposition is trying to defame India. He said people from foreign countries come to India to study electoral process and EVM.
Naqvi said at the press conference, “Electronic Voting Machines cannot be hacked. What is clear is that anti-India forces have hacked into the mind of Congress.”
Naqvi said that Congress is already looking for an excuse because they know they are going to lose upcoming Lok Sabha polls. “What we have seen is a hacking horror show organised by the Congress ahead of its defeat in Lok Sabha polls. It is looking for an excuse for its impending loss,” said Naqvi.
Naqvi said that Congress recently won polls in three states and other opposition parties have come to power in states like Bihar and West Bengal where voting took place through EVMs as well.
Syed Shuja, a cyber expert, claimed in an event in London today that EVMs can be hacked. However, Shuja had no proof of his claims. Congress leader Kapil Sibal was present at the event.
