Government asks Amarnath Yatris in Kashmir to return immediately given the prevailing security situation

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir today issued security advisory for Amarnath Yatris and tourists to curtail their stay in Kashmir valley.

The Government has asked the pilgrims and tourists to immediately take necessary measures to return as soon as possible.

“Keeping in view the latest intelligence inputs of terror threats with specific targeting of the Amarnath Yatra, and given the prevailing security situation in the Kashmir Valley, in the interest of safety and security of the tourists and Amarnath Yatris, it is advised that they may curtail their stay in the valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible,” said an order issued by Principal Secretary, Home Department Shaleen Kabra here today.

Earlier in the day Chinar Corps Commander Lt General K J S Dhillon and J&K DGP Dilbag Singh held a joint Press Conference in Srinagar. Lt General K J S Dhillon said that situation on the LoC is under control and very much peaceful. Infiltration bids from Pakistan side are being successfully thwarted.

He said that “Threat of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) has increased. After #Pulwama, more attempts of IED attacks made. Recently, we eliminated an IED expert terrorist from #Pakistan, Munna Lahori.”


Centre has deployed 25,000 more troops in Kashmir in addition to 10,000 send to the state few days ago.
