Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that India will host G20 summit in 2022.
Italy and India swapped year of hosting the summit. Italy will now be hosting the summit in the 2021 and Indian will host the summit it in 2022.
“It’s India’s 75th Independence Day in 2022 and we had requested Italy if we can get ’22 instead of ’21 (for hosting G20 summit). They accepted our request, others accepted it too. I am grateful and I invite leadership from across the world to come to India in 2022,” said PM Modi at the G20 summit in Argentina.
India is going to complete 75 years of Independence in the year 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited all the G20 leaders to visit India in the year 2022 and experience India’s warm hospitality.

Italian PM Giuseppe Conte accepted India’s offer to swap the year of hosting of summit saying that he understands that it is important for India.
