Kolkata/ New Delhi:
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today announced the names of 42 candidates who will contest in all 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state from the party. TMC has dropped 10 sitting MPs from the list this time.
The announcement came even as TMC MP Anupam Hazara, who was expelled from the party for anti-party activities, joined BJP in New Delhi. Hazara was critical of the TMC leadership even when he was part of the party. Congress MLA Dulal Chandra Bar and CPM MLA Khagen Murmu also joined BJP in presence of senior BJP leader Mukul Roy and BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya.
Mukul Roy, who himself is former TMC member, said that more TMC members are ready to join BJP.
Meanwhile, while announcing the name of her party candidates in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee alleged that BJP is using money to bribe voters in the state.
Mamata Banerjee said that 41 percent of the nominees in the list are women. She said that TMC will also contest on some seats in Assam, Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar and the Andamans.
