Modi Govt. scraps Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir

Fulfilling it long due promise, BJP Government led by Narendra Modi has scrapped article 370 imposed in Jammu in Kashmir over 70 years ago.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed the Rajya Sabha today that Article 370 has been scrapped and the state of Jammu and Kashmir will now be bifurcated into two Union Territories.

According to the Gazette signed by the President Jammu and Kashmir will be one Union Territory and Ladakh will be another Union Territory.

Government decision was opposed by Congress and JDU and was supported by BSP, BJD and AIADMK.

The government, on Sunday night, imposed Section 144 in Kashmir and all the internet and Mobile services in the state were snapped.

Local leaders Mehbuba Mufti and Omar Abdullah have been put under house arrest since yesterday.
