PM Modi invites South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to attend 2019 Republic Day celebrations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday invited South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to India to attend 2019 Republic Day celebrations. “President Ramaphosa accepted India’s invitation to be the Chief Guest at Republic Day during 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi,” tweeted Raveesh Kumar Official Spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs.

The two leaders also held a bilateral meeting on Saturday on the sidelines of G20 summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

PM Modi said that the upcoming visit of the President will further cement business and people-to-people ties between India and South Africa.

“The upcoming visit of President @CyrilRamaphosa, and that too during the special occasion of India’s Republic Day will further cement business and people-to-people ties between India and South Africa,” tweeted PM Modi.

 


PM Modi also said that Bapu’s close link with South Africa is well known and it is honour to welcome President Ramaphosa at a time when India is marking the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
