Security forces kill Pulwama attack mastermind in Tral


Security forces killed two terrorists, including the mastermind of the 14 February Pulwama terror attack, in a joint operation in Tral on Sunday.

According to officials Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist Mudasir Ahmed Khan alias ‘Mohd Bhai’ was killed in a joint operation by Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF in Pinglish area of Tral in Pulwama of South Kashmir.

The second terrorists killed the operation is Sajjad Bhat, whose vehicle was used in the Pulwama attack.

According to officials security forces launched Cordon And Search Operation (CASO) in Pinglish after receiving specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. The terrorist started firing at the security forces when search party got near to their location, triggering the gunfight.

According to officials, the family members of Khan have taken his body. However, Bhat’s family members refused to take his body, saying it was charred beyond recognition.

Khan was identified as the brain behind the audacious terror strike in Pulwama that left 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel dead.

The Maruti Eeco minivan, which was used in the attack, was bought by Bhat just 10 days before the suicide attack.

Officials said that the suicide attacker, Adil Ahmed Dar, was in constant contact with Khan.

Khan, an electrician, joined the JeM sometime in 2017 and is also believed to be involved in the terror strike at the army camp in Sunjawan in February 2018, in which six personnel and a civilian were killed.
