Team India breaks 71-year drought with 2-1 test series win in Australia

Sydney:

Team India, under Kholi, has shown the world its mettle by ending 71-year drought with a 2-1 test series win in Australia.

Indian team, under Virat Kohli, even forced the Australian to face the humiliation of follow on at their home turf in Sydney. Australia have been asked to follow on at their own turf in 1988 by England, that too in Sydney.

Indian team scored thumping 622 for seven and declared the first inning. Australian team, in reply, only managed to score 300 all out in their first innings. Team India forced the Kangaroos to follow on.

“Just one word to say, ‘proud’, to lead this team and it’s an honor and privilege,” a visibly elated Virat Kohli said after the victory.

“So proud to be a part of this team, great feeling! This is not just a team this is a family. Onwards and upwards from here on,” captain KOhli tweeted after the match.

Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly congratulated team India and tweeted, “Tremendous win ..this is what one plays for .. enjoy every moment ..congratulations to every member of the team.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the Indian team on the historic win.  “A historic cricketing accomplishment in Australia! Congratulations to the Indian Cricket Team for the hard-fought and richly deserved series victory. The series witnessed some memorable performances and solid teamwork. Best wishes for the various games ahead,” the Prime Minister tweeted.
