Veteran actor-screenwriter Kader Khan passes away at 81

Veteran actor-screenwriter Kader Khan passed away at the age of 81 in Canada on Tuesday, 1 January 2019.

The actor was hospitalized for past few days and was on ventilator. He complained of breathlessness few days ago after which he was admitted to a hospital in Canada.

People from film industry and political leaders have expressed condolences on the demise of the veteran actor.

“Kader Khan Ji brightened the screen with his stupendous acting skills and lightened it thanks to his unique sense of humour. He was also a prolific screenwriter, associated with many memorable films. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.


“Kader Khan Saab was one of the finest actors of our country. It was a joy and a learning experience to be on the sets with him. His improvisational skills were phenomenal. His humour was eternal and original. He was a wonderful writer. We will miss him & his brilliance,” Tweeted Anupam Kher who has worked in several films with him.


Kader Khan acted in over 300 films in Hindi and Urdu and has written dialogues for over 250 Indian films, from the 1970s up to the turn of the 21st century. He is most popularly recognized for working with actors Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Feroz Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Govinda and in films directed by Tatineni Rama Rao, K. Raghavendra Rao, K. Bapaiah, Narayana Rao Dasari, David Dhawan.
