Wrestler Babita Phogat and father Mahavir Singh Phogat join BJP

New Delhi:

Prominent Indian wrestler Babita Phogat and her father, Dronacharya Award winner Mahavir Singh Phogat, have joined BJP today in presence of senior BJP leader and Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju.

BJP General Secretary Anil Jain and Haryana BJP President Anil Baluni were also present on the occasion.

Babita has been very vocal about her support to Prime Minister Modi and BJP. She supported the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.

After joining the BJP today Babita said that she is very impressed by PM Modi and is his big fan. She said she is very happy about removal of Article 370.

After joining the party Babita and her father met National Working President of Bharatiya Janata Party J. P. Nadda.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also welcomed Babita and Mahavir in the party.

Babita, who has won the gold medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2018 Commonwealth Games, has been working in Haryana Police till now. She also won silver medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the 2012 World Wrestling Championships.

Her sisters Geeta Phogat and Vinesh Phogat have also won gold medals in common wealth games.

Babita, along with her sister and cousin, have contributed to a change in mindset and attitude towards girls and women in their state Haryana.

Mahavir Singh Phogat father of the Phogat sisters has won the Dronacharya Award. He has trained all his daughters in wrestling while fighting the mindset of people.
